The Story
Formed in 1963 in Newcastle, The Animals became internationally famous for their gritty rhythm & blues sound and chart-topping hits. Their unique blend of blues, rock, and soul shaped the sound of a generation, with “House of the Rising Sun” becoming one of the most iconic songs in rock history.
Founding drummer John Steel, inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, continues to carry the legacy forward through The Animals & Friends. Since rebranding in 2001, the band has performed at festivals, theaters, and venues across Europe, Australia, and the U.S., offering audiences an authentic revival of their 60s R&B sound.
Their lineup, deeply rooted in the original spirit of the band, delivers a tight and powerful live performance that connects generations — whether for lifelong fans or new listeners discovering the magic for the first time.
